The award is established to encourage and assist aspiring students who wish to continue their education. This includes universities, junior colleges, technical schools, nursing schools apprenticeship training, etc.

The awards are presented in the amount of  $500.00 award per student.

We are pleased to inform everyone that the games kick off from the steps of the State Capital and the athletes will run from there back to Mt. Pleasant to kick off the start of the games. We spoke to State director Lois Arnold and she is excited about the possibility of having as many officers participate as possible.

Dates are May 27, 2012 from Lansing to site of the games and they will finish on June 2, 2012. Let us know if you plan to participate.

NOTE:

The 2012 Cops on  a Run event is scheduled for August 11. Save the date!

Remember to be in uniform or FOP attire as we escort Santa as he makes his rounds to the local schools for  Santa visitation day.

Please join Us For An Evening Of Enjoyment

The Brothers and Sisters of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 130 invite you to join us at 7:00 pm on November 5, 2011 for an enjoyable evening of fine wine, good food, raffles and a silent auction: All to benefit the students of the area as well as the Leah Marie Bollin Memorial Award at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan . The Bollin Award benefits students with Epilepsy as well as those with learning disabilities and gives six one thousand dollar scholarships a year to deserving students. FOP 130 also awards at least five scholarships a year to deserving students. The need has never been greater due to today’s economy and we are committed to helping these students pursue their dream.

The evening will consist of three distributors providing you with some of their finest wines to sample. A Sommelier will be present to answer your questions about wine, how to store it, the types of glasses to use, how to prepare and store the glasses, a description of the different types of wine, how to taste wine, and other hints on how to make your wine tasting experience a memorable one.

The buffet will include a number of items designed to enhance the tasting experience by allowing you to match the food with the wine. Of course we will have the fruit, cheeses, crackers, shrimp and many other items as well as desert to make the evening a great experience.

We will also be having 50/50 raffles, door prizes and a great silent auction that will give you the chance to bid on wine baskets, golf packages, sports memorabilia, restaurant certificates, pottery, Motor City Casino overnight stay, and many other items yet to be collected.
